A mask from the the King in Yellow's Cult of the Pallid Mask. Found among the belongings of a dead member and used by Arthur to try and infiltrate the cult. John finds it comforting.
Description[]
The mask is pale white[1]. The mask has no mouth and oval-shaped eyes "that seem lifeless," with crude-cut corners shaping the forehead and jaw giving it a "brutalist" effect. It appears to be made of a thin stone or a heavy plaster. [2]
History[]
While there have been many pallid masks, this one in particular was taken from the possession of Doctor Daniel Sayid.
Known Abilities[]
Minor Thrall - the mask can call to John. He finds it familiar and comforting[2].
Reveal - the mask can reveal things not otherwise seen. Four instances of this occurred: once in the hotel to reveal the writing on the papers of the cultists, again in the Dreamlands to reveal the forms of the Three Soldiers, a third time in the mines to reveal the ethereal tendrils with which the creature was attaching itself to others, and a fourth when Arthur hands the mask to Daniel in order to see a bit of the star-footed creature on a blade.
